Cine film will always benefit from some expert colour correction to fix colours that have altered and faded over time.
Different makes of film deteriorate differently, with the most common problem being that the films turns a shade of purple or green, and the colours fade.
In the example above you can see the original colours as captured by the scanner, are quite purple and dark with a cold feel to them. Alongside is the finished film after our editor has applied colour correction filters to correct the tones, warm up the image and make it punchier and stronger.
We use a variety of filters including colour filters, contrast enhancers and de-noise, which makes the picture smoother and clearer.
For this example we’ve deliberately not chosen brilliant film, but gone for more typical home movie footage from the 1970s which was actually very dirty and warped at the edges, so not in great condition, so it’s a really fair example of what you can expect.
This work is carried out as standard with all orders at Alive Studios.
